about ro lane

I am a sports communications professional who has built my career quickly and intentionally by earning opportunities in high-level environments and meeting them with consistency, grit and urgency. In less than one year, I worked concurrently across multiple professional sports organizations while completing my degree full time and balancing outside responsibilities—gaining hands-on experience in media relations, game-day operations, content creation and press logistics at the professional level.

My experience spans the NBA, UFL and women’s professional sports, including roles with the Memphis Grizzlies, Memphis Showboats and Women’s Elite Rugby. Across these organizations, I supported daily communications operations, managed game-day media logistics, coordinated interviews and press access, distributed stats and materials, and contributed written and social content to elevate teams and athletes. Each role was earned through demonstrated reliability, adaptability and a willingness to take on responsibility—often behind the scenes—to ensure the operation ran at the highest standard.

Following my graduation from the University of Memphis, I took the natural next step in my professional growth by earning a full-time communications internship with the Memphis Grizzlies, where I now work daily within an NBA PR staff. Operating in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment has sharpened my instincts, reinforced the importance of precision and trust, and strengthened my commitment to doing the less visible work that allows teams to succeed.

My work has been recognized with honors including PRSA Memphis Student Communicator of the Year, Dean’s Outstanding Undergraduate, Emerging Media Professional in Strategic Media, and multiple university-level achievement awards. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Strategic Media and a focus in public relations, pairing academic excellence with real-world execution.

Beyond my professional experience, my passion for sports was shaped long before my career began. Growing up an hour south of Knoxville in the early 2000s meant watching Lady Vols basketball and witnessing Pat Summitt’s relentless pursuit of excellence from my family’s living room. That standard—discipline, intensity and belief—left a lasting imprint. Today, it fuels my work in sports media, where I believe storytelling has the power to shape perception, elevate athletes and reveal the grit and humanity behind competition. That belief continues to guide my career and defines the way I show up every day.
